Hiking the Rush Creek Trail 2017
Rush Creek Trail – “Living up to its name!” Monday, June 5th, 2017 Most days, the idea of a Monday morning spawns images of another dreadful work week. For me however, It would be a very different Monday. I was fortunate enough to wake up on in the Eastern Sierra Nevada with a beautiful destination to venture to. I have been visiting the June Lake Loop for well over a decade, but never actually hiked the trails that are in and around this lovely region. I was going to change that by taking on the Rush Creek Trail to Agnew Lake. “The Starship hits up the June Lake Loop for another glorious Eastern…

The Aspen Goldrush – Silver Lake Instameet 2016
Saturday, October 15th, 2016 Enter the height of Autumn in the Eastern Sierra Nevada and you get scenes of aspen gold littering the alluvial fans and lakesides from Lone Pine to Lava Springs and beyond. As an avid fan and frequent visitor of California’s beautiful granite backyard, I learned that Josh Wray of Visit Mammoth had assembled the third in a series of Instameet socials to be held at Silver Lake this year and I wanted in. The popular Instameet events are a free and open invitation to all who love photography. They’re a great way to meet new people, share ideas, and make fantastic memories. There is no restriction…

Autumn Adventures at Lava Springs 2016
Tuesday, October 4th, 2016 Today I set off on a journey to the Eastern Sierra Nevada to see if I could capture some of the beautiful autumn scenery that was setting in before winter. It was going to be a 328 mile (528 km) drive to the place I had wanted to explore. From there I would start my way back south over the next day to capture the effects of autumn at various locations along Highway 395. I took all my camera gear and started early. The drive would have me traveling for well over 5 hours and the scenery after a couple of hours provided such awe inspiring…

Eastern Sierra New Year 2015
Wednesday, December 31st, 2014 DAY 01: “Victorville to Lone Pine, CA” On December 31st 2014, I made a last minute decision to hit the Eastern Sierra Nevadas yet again. My mission was to get a lot of pick up shots that I may have missed on my last great adventure there with the talented Julia Starr. Our previous excursion took us on a Giant Eastern Sierra Photo Venture for seven days and resulted in the biggest blog entry to date. Although I had the time of my life with Julia, unfortunately I would be flying solo on this trip. “The Starship was ready to hit up some serious highway travel.”…

Giant Eastern Sierra Photo Venture 2014
MOJAVE DESERT, CA Saturday, November 29th, 201 Near the end of 2014, Julia Starr and I set off on a stock photo adventure of grand proportions to California’s beautiful Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains via HWY 395 from the Mojave Desert. This is the longest road trip that we have shared to date. Armed with a considerable array of photography equipment, this trip would definitely go down as one of the great ones. This adventure had been 4 months in the works! I have a real knack for planning these sorts of trips during times of inclement weather which is precisely what I look for. As far as photography goes, the…
